Dominik Gaus
TRUMPET
Dominik Gaus has been the principal trumpet of the Berliner Symphoniker since 2018. He regularly performs with renowned ensembles throughout Germany and has been a guest with the Berlin Radio Symphony Orchestra (RSB), the Deutsches Kammerorchester Berlin, the Brandenburger Symphoniker, the Kammersymphonie Berlin, and the Neubrandenburger Philharmonie, among others.
Dominik Gaus completed his undergraduate studies under Prof. Malte Burba at the University of Music Mainzbefore moving to the Hanns Eisler School of Music in Berlin, where he earned his Bachelor of Music. He then pursued a Master of Music degree under Prof. Konradin Groth at the Berlin University of the Arts, completing his studies in 2017.
He gained his first orchestral experience in the 2013/14 season as 1st/3rd trumpet with the Brandenburg State Orchestra Frankfurt (Oder). During this time, he co-founded the Berlin Brass Quintet with fellow students, an ensemble devoted to a wide range of musical genres. Their debut CD, United (2017), showcases the diverse facets of brass sound; in the same year, the quintet performed the national anthem at the inaugural session of the German Bundestag.
